December 2004Friday 31 December 2004 11:11 amSo here we are on New Year's Eve.. Another year has passed me by. Just created a menu for the restaurant that my sister's boyfriend works at. I did a pretty stylish job, too - and no help from the complete lack of instruction and utterly incomprehensible documentation that I was given to work with. It took me 6 damn hours to do - and I want some MONEY, damnit.. (apparently - there IS some money in it for me). Another thing.. This is my last day as a smoker - at least, that is the plan anyway. My New Year's resolution is to quit smoking. I've already made several fairly drastic lifestyle changes over the past few months, and this will just be another one on the list. I know it's going to be hard - withdrawl symptoms and all - but I'll cope. Updates on this later.Wednesday 29 December 2004 1:52 pmProps go out to Whiteshark a.k.a Kwanza Klaus for helping me understand Dreamweaver's templating properly. I managed to keep the sweet layout of the site - and find a way to update the content efficiently, and without having to edit every single page when the menu content changes. Whiteshark, Thankyou.Next item of interest - I got an exercise bike for Christmas. I've been doing a 10km bike ride every evening. Just the thing to help keep me in shape. I've even got it planted right in front of my 142 cm rear-projection TV. Exercise will never be so boring again! I used to just do half an hour with a skipping-rope each night - but skipping is very high-impact, and there is the danger of it doing my knees in. Also - if it's raining, blazing, hot or cold or windy.. doesn't matter. I'm in my lounge-room.. :)Monday 27 December 2004 2:02 pmOk.. Just re-did everything! It took alot of stuffing around to finally get the new javascript navbar working, but it's all about aesthetic appeal and functionality. Those drop-down menus in the pull-down boxes that I had before were mostly ok - but there were a couple of operational glitches, not to mention that they did indeed look a bit crude. I'm fairly pleased with how it has turned out - as there are no frames on the site anymore, and people don't generally like frames as a rule. It DOES mean that making changes may be a little more complex, but no matter. It looks good, and works well. Went up the mountain for a doof last night, and it was awesome - as per usual. Dominic did a great set - he incorporates heaps of different genres into his work.Friday 24 December 2004 11:10 amChristmas eve - time to go and do some last-minute shopping. There's still a couple of people I haven't yet bought for - so I hope that I can find something. Gotta go down and visit my dad for christmas - THAT'll be interesting, as per usual. I'm also just getting over my sickness - so hopefully, I'm past contagion and won't give it to the rest of my family. That'd make me REALLY popular. Still tweaking with the site - I'd expect the overall presentation to take shape within about a week. I'm mostly happy with it, but I'm still hemming and hawing about the background. I don't want it to get too busy (like the last one) but I think it can afford a LITTLE more style.Thursday 23 December 2004 9:38 pmWow.. Over a whole year since my last news entry.. guess I've been slack. As you may well realise - today is the day of the total makeover. I've spent near on a whole day fixing everything up, and I hope that you like the new look. The new navigation system was designed to be easier to use, so now there is only one menu frame instead of two. I'm just relaxing at the moment during my holiday break over christmas, and I'll be heading back to work (yeah, I got another job) on the 4th of January ready for a new year. I've just recently been playing the game 'X-men: Legends'. It's actually not a bad game. It's basically a cross between a solid scrolling beat-em-up and a D&Desque role-playing game. Each character - and there are plenty - has tons of different abilities in addition to some nice varied hand-to-hand combat skills. You can play up-to four players simultaeneously - though in single player mode, you are not penalised - as three of the characters in any four-man team are controlled by the computer. It's a neat little game.Went to the Grinspoon concert last week, and it wasn't bad. Grinspoon have never really been a favourite band, but after seeing them live - I have a bit more respect for them. Classic style rock is hard to find these days. The only real pain was that caught a cold - being in a room full of people with inadequate ventilation, no doubt.Went to a party last night. Friend's 26th birthday.. Heh. Starting to feel old. (I just had my 25th.) wasn't a bad party - plenty of cuties, but I wasn't really in form. I spent too much time catching up with old friends. Possibility of meeting one again soon though - so we'll just have to see what that turns up. |
