Metallica

This is the band that taught me how to play. And yes, indeed I can play. Nothing beats grinding riffs, brutal vocals, confronting lyrics and good old fashioned heavy metal. Although they lost a little tempo in recent years, you must pay credit where credit is due. I grew up on this shit.

Faith No More

Probably the band I spend most of my time listening to these days, FNM is a sensational juxtaposition of haunting melodies against a sinister backdrop. That's about the only way I can describe the complexity of the music. Mike Patton is a fucking genius.

Mr Bungle

Mike Patton's highschool band, Mr Bungle can't accurately be portrayed in words. That is, unless you understand what a hyperventilating, macro-oscillating, cold penetrating, never hesitating, porno masturbating, always concentrating, skull grating, pasta fornicating monkey sounds like.

The Beatles

What can I say? Any serious musician knows their roots, and while I don't really spend alot of time listening to The Beatles these days, I certainly used to. Everyone likes The Beatles, and if they don't, they should.

Dream Theater

Combine operatic vocals with a chunky guitar, eloquent basslines and sophisticated rhythm patterns, and there you have it. A progressive rock band who - although it would seem that were stuck back in the '80s - still manage to scrub up well in a modern musical age of cynicism and satire.
